Hi Matt,

Wow, Svalbard is so beatiful! I was wondering what your walk to the lake was like? Is it on tundra, rock, moraine, trail? Will this be your base camp?

Hi Kristin,

The walk to the lake is over tundra. We see reindeer almost every day and the tundra/alpine wildflowers are beautiful. I do my best to tip toe around them! Some of the more beautiful ones are moss campium (see photo in my photo gallery), arctic poppy, dryas, and arctic buttercup. The hike from the south shore to the Linnebreen (Linne Glacier) was over rocks and moraines. Our base camp is at Isfjord Radio Station, a WWII communications station that looks out into Isfjord. Beautiful! Thanks for the interest.

Matt
