Just checking in? How is it to be home?
Personally, I am still adjusting as we just arrived two days ago.
I feel like I need a week of non stimulation to process all of the wonderment I have experienced.

Hi Cathy,
I am glad that you are thrilled to be home.
No, we do not have fireflies in coastal Florida, but I love them - infact Firefly is my name trail name and Firefly Facets is my little personal business.
I had a great week at home, we spent mornings monitoring sea turtle nests which is always a great way to start the day.
Now we are in Alabama seeing family. It is nice hear to... on the coast.
School starts next week and I have been asked to speak to 600 public school science teachers next Wed. - I need to prepare now!!! 
First thing I wanted to do when I got home....? HUG HOOCH!

Yes it is great to be home!
I don't know about you, but it was so wonderful to see the night sky again. We have fireflies in Michigan, do you have them in Florida? I enjoyed watching them flitting around close to the grass then flying into the shrubs like little stars that have fallen to earth.
It was also wonderful to have a toilet to flush, a shower to stand in for as long as I wanted, a car to drive around in and not have to walk everywhere. It's still a big adjustment being around so much of everything, compared to Toolik outside, like Michgan birds, trees, fish, frogs, insects besides mosquitoes, hearing roosters and goats and cars on the road. I can't get over just walking outside in my barefeet or sandals and not wearing rubber boots and a mosquito net. Not to mention the 80 degree temperature. Anyway, it's good to be back. I know I will miss the tundra and the Arctic, but not yet!
How about you? What was the first thing you wanted to do or see when you got home?
