Hi Cathy,

Just checking in? How is it to be home?

Personally, I am still adjusting as we just arrived two days ago.

I feel like I need a week of non stimulation to process all of the wonderment I have experienced.

And you?

Welcome Home,

Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

Yes it is great to be home! Laughing  I don't know about you, but it was so wonderful to see the night sky again.  We have fireflies in Michigan, do you have them in Florida?  I enjoyed watching them flitting around close to the grass then flying into the shrubs like little stars that have fallen to earth.

It was also wonderful to have a toilet to flush, a shower to stand in for as long as I wanted, a car to drive around in and not have to walk everywhere.  It's still a big adjustment being around so much of everything, compared to Toolik outside, like Michgan birds, trees, fish, frogs, insects besides mosquitoes, hearing roosters and goats and cars on the road.  I can't get over just walking outside in my barefeet or sandals and not wearing rubber boots and a mosquito net.  Not to mention the 80 degree temperature.  Anyway, it's good to be back.  I know I will miss the tundra and the Arctic, but not yet!

How about you?  What was the first thing you wanted to do or see when you got home?

Take care,

Cathy
