Hello Ms. Worssam and Team,

It was interesting to read about the Krill experiments you are conducting to follow the eating habits and age of the krill.  I was wondering if we eat krill and what thier job is in the ocean?

Thanks,

Carol Pardoe

About the Krill

Hi Carol,

Thanks for reading along.  I have also found learning about the krill fascinating.   Krill are quite amazing, they are a foundamental building block for oceanic food webs.  Some even call them the potatoes of the sea, as so many species not only directly eat krill, many animals also eat the smaller species that eat krill.

And I have seen krill sold in many asian markets, but not yet as a mainstream snack.

I ate a krill the other night, no distinctive flavor other than salty, but the texture of the legs was quite disconcerting.

Thanks for the questions

Jillian
