noise

Welcome home!! How quiet was it there? Was it quiet? Or due to McMurdo and due to equipment, was it always noisy? I hear noise all the time at home, and at work and rarely hear complete quiet.
It has been great to read your posts, what a fascinating trip.

I found Antarctica to be amazingly, blissfully quiet. As soon as you got away from the "bizzyness" of McMurdo, you could hear NOTHING. I would just stand and listen to the silence as long as I could stay still.
Contrast that to my school's talent show today with all the kids cheering each other on. (Which was awesome of course!) One of the teachers commented that I looked younger and that my wrinkles had disappeared, and I said that freezing your face was better than botox, but I really think it was from the peace and quiet of Antarctica!
