A little bit of frostbite

I just thought I would share a little Halloween story with you.

Yesterday some of us science teachers were presenting our annual 'Chemystery of Halloween' show for our freshman. We recently have been able to get a hold of some liquid nitrogen and do some pretty neat demos. Since it was for Halloween and all, I decided to put a hot dog in a rubber glove and pretend it was a finger. I held the hot dog in the liquid N2 a tad long and received mild frostbite, blister and all, on my index finger. The kids just said I was prepping myself for the ice!

Happy Halloween!

Liquid nitrogen frostbite

Hi Brandon,

I love the demo where you put the banana in liquid nitrogen and then shatter it against a curtain!

BE CAREFUL - because once they freeze, they refreeze easier, or at least that is what I hear!  I went through two 6-hour hand-warmers today because we were out from 8 am until 8:30 pm!

 Cheers, Mindy
