sunlight

Hi Peggy,
You are writing great journals, and it looks like you are having quite an adventure! How much sunlight, sunset are you getting? Is there a night? Can you work until midnight? If it does get dark, is it dark enough for a star filled sky? Any aurora borealis? Great photos too.
Looking forward to hearing more.
Mary Anne

Hi Mary Anne. Good to hear from you! I followed your adventure when I had the chance. The little Auks are fascinating! I've enjoyed hearing about your experiences and the people and animals you met along the way!
We did not have 24 hours a day of light, but it seemed that way. Only one night out of the whole trip did I see stars. When I zipped up my tent at night it was light and when I unzipped it in the morning it was light and it seemed light anytime I woke up during the night. The variation of sunrise to sunset on my expedition was 18 hours between sunrise and sunset when I arrived and 16 hours between sunrise and sunset now We stopped work between 6 and 8 in the evening before we started dinner. We would take off to our sleeping tents about 10-10:30pm after cards or socializing in the kitchen tent.
