Westmark Fairbanks
beautiful day, great day for a walk- snowy
February 25, 2009I feel the earth move under my feet I feel the sky tumbling down I feel my heart start to trembling Thanks Carole King. This is one has been in my life for a long time. Wow, I don't know how much the earth was moving under my feet, but my feet were surely moving on it yesterday. Today was much more sedentary. I spent lots of time reviewing with other teachers and sorting through my photos. I also spent time sifting through **all of the research **papers my students have been sending to me via email. Back to yesterday... an amazing day. hmmmm Does anyone know what is so special about Lance Mackey? He is a legand! First thing in the morning we heard that the Yukon Quest Dog Sled racers were going to be coming in at 9:30 am only a short distance from where we were...

August 16, 2008 Reflections of the Land of the Midnight Sun

Home
Hot and Sunny
*I took my love, I took it down Climbed a mountain and I turned around And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills till the landslide brought me down Oh, mirror in the sky What is love Can the child within my heart rise above Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides Can I handle the seasons of my life Well, I’ve been afraid of changing cause I’ve built my life around you But time makes you bolder Children get older I’m getting older too So, take my love, take it down Climb a mountain and turn around And If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well the landslide will bring you down If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills Well maybe the landslide will bring you down * Thanks Fleetwood Mac I cannot think of a better song for my reflection- a song that I have...

Thanks Toad the Wet Sprocket* ** 4 Wheelers from Tundra to Tropics! I bet Paulo didn’t realize I really did need that ATV training for more than the tundra! home again for now
Balmy - Sunny
Hello darkness, my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again, Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping, And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence. Thank Simon and Garfunkel I am back in Lake Worth, Florida **and reflecting on my whole experience. Although my **brain is mulling **over what I learned about **carbon, global warming, Arctic birds and how I am going to teach all of this to my students, this moment I mostly think of my travels around Alaska. I will have plenty of time to process my **increase of knowledge while in Barrow as I set pod casts and video’s **into motion during this next week. This was the wonderful route that Rob planned for our vacation. We took planes, large and small, trains,...

Arctic OCEAN and BEO
Cold and windy
Thanks Elton John and Bernie Taupin – you are both my all time favorite! *Turn me loose from your hands Let me fly to distant lands Over green fields, trees and mountains Flowers and forest fountains Home along the lanes of the skyway… …For just a Skyline Pigeon Dreaming of the open Waiting for the day He can spread his wings And fly away again Flyaway skyline pigeon fly Towards the dreams You've left so very far behind Just let me wake up in the morning To the smell of new mown hay To laugh and cry, to live and die In the brightness of my day… * Wow 33 days. I am trying hard not to have any regrets, but if I did have any, (ha - I am sliding them in) it would have been that I took more time to watch birds and that I would have pressed flowers. But that’s pretty much it. Not too bad...

July 11, 2008 What’s to come?

BARC Lab
foogy cold wind
*Another turning point; a fork stuck in the road. Time grabs you by the wrist; directs you where to go. So make the best of this test and don't ask why. It's not a question but a lesson learned in time. It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. So take the photographs and still frames in your mind. Hang it on a shelf In good health and good time. Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial. For what it's worth, it was worth all the while. It's something unpredictable but in the end it's right. I hope you had the time of your life. Thanks Green Day* ** Anthony Zeleski – thanks for the idea for this song. It fits! ** There is more than one way to skin a cat, so the saying goes. You can do the minimum to get by or can you push...

cloudy and rain - but it WILL clear up today!
*I'm still young, but I know my days are numbered 1234567 and so on But a time will come when these numbers have all ended And all I've ever seen will be forgotten Won't you come To my funeral when my days are done Life's not long And so I hope when I am finally dead and gone That you'll gather round when I am lowered into the ground When my coffin is sealed and I'm safely 6 feet under Perhaps my friends will see fit then to judge me Oh when they pause to consider all my blunders I hope they won't be too quick to begrudge me Won't you come To my funeral when my days are done Life's not long And so I hope when I am finally dead and gone That you'll gather round when I am lowered into the ground If I should die before I wake up I pray that the Lord my soul will take but My body, my body...

*When you cant find the light, That got you through the cloudy days, When the stars aint shinin bright, You feel like you’ve lost you’re way, When those candle lights of home, Burn so very far away, Well you got to let your soul shine, Just like my daddy used to say. He used to say soushine, Its better than sunshine, It’s better than moonshine, Damn sure better than rain.
